About two months ago I was teaching animation in school. We used Kodacrome 40 film. When the films (2) that my students shot came back from processing, the first one was great but the second... all black from start to finish. even the very end of the film (when you remove the cartridge from camera, about one inch gets overexposed). The camera (sankyo LXL 255) is workking fine (I have shot about 40 cartridges with it, few after this black film)
I sent the film back to Kodak and they said they will investigate the film.
Yesterday the film came back with two new films (2!!!) The letter that came with, said that they have not found a reasonable reason for the black film. they said that probably durin the packing, black super-8 leader has accidently gone into the cartridge.
Has anyone heard that something like this has happened before?

I have never heard of this. It seems a bit fishy to me. I would hope kodak would know what is leader and what is film. Leader would have been black in the cartridge. I think you should try some more film.
